Frequently Asked Questions - How to use this site

You may use this site with any current computer or mobile device. You shall not have problems with any browsers, however, if you use an Internet Explorer 8.0 or earlier, the site may not be displayed properly. If you face any problems, please send us a mail and we will fix it.

The website's owners would like to ask all users to live up to the Ethical Charter and the Child Protection Policy. Please use the site by providing valid informaiton about yourself and in all your correspondance please respect the views and the personal identities of others.

Yes all of the services and resources provided are free of charge. Some functionalities however need registration.

The site has been developed by a consortium of organisations (please see them under the Contact us page). The purpose of this website is to provide the opportunity for child protection professionals to develop their knowledge through online resources and e-learning, to offer a place for professional network and exchange with colleagues in this region.

The site collects materials on child protection and on how to do child protection, including research, reports, analytical pieces, as well as self-study materials you can learn from on your own, short videos and podcasts, and any other materials that can support the self-development of child protection professionals.



You may download most of the child protection related files, including documents, presentations and such. However, please note that these files have different copyrights, and you may not be able to copy or distribute them.

You will only need a current browser which has a HTML5 player and speakers.

Case discussions are an opportunity for front-line social workers to discuss their day-to-day challenges and dilemmas: you can submit a case you have a question about - or you can join an announced case discussion and benefit from the discussion that takes place between the user that has submitted the case and the social worker advisor who has been invited to help find a solution to the given dilemma. All cases submitted and announced are anonimised, protecting the identity of the clients. The purpose is for practioners to be able to ask a more experienced social work counsellor and get advice on specific issues.

You have two choices: 1. only view the whole page in your own native language (e.g. Albanian) - in which case you will only see those items that are avaialble in that language. 2. view items in your own native language as priority, but also see other content that is only available in English. In this case you will have a much wider choice - so if you can read some English you can get an idea of the richness of knowledge the website has. There is a 'radio button' on top (in the black bar) where you can change the setting to include English.

You can always push the button for 'Request a translation'. If we see a higher demand for that particular item for a certain destination language, we will make sure we can provide you with at least a summary of that publication.

We are striving to serve our users as best as we can. Depending on funding we would like to add more languages, Macedonian and Russian as a priority.

On any page which holds a list of more than 20 content items, you will find a filter right after the introduction. You click on this, and then Filtering options drop down. You need to check the checkboxes and/or put a keyphrase into the search field. Then you should hit the Search button, and see if you can find what you are looking for. If you still cannot find it, filtering can be repeated to narrow down search results.

You simply click into the field saying Quick search, enter the phrase you are interested in and click Enter or the Magnifier icon.

We will not use your private data for any other purposes than than those of this website. We will not give them to anyone, we will not make it possible for others to steal or use it in any ways. You will always have the oportunity to delete your account. You may find our detailed Data Protection Policy here.

You may find an Unsubscribe link at the bottom of each newsletter we send. If that link does not work for any reason, please contact us directly, and we will remove your address from the newsletter subscriptions.

You shall enter your e-mail address on the main page and click on the button Subscribe. You will shortly receive an e-mail with a link. You shall click on the link, and then you are subscribed.

Please click on Ask a Question - and if you write to us under 'Information within 48 hours' we will get you help within two days!

We would really like to see more and more people contributing to this community work: you can send us materials you think this site should have, you can help us improve translation of the website (especially the 'automated' translations that are provided), you can participate in the forum and answer the question of other users, you can provide us feedback on what we should improve on the site. You can also propose to us that certain materials be translated from English into local languages -and if many people do the same we will prioritise those items.

After logging in, you shall click on My profile under the menu point Connect with colleague. You may delete your account by clicking on the button at the bottom of the page.

You can define which part of your profile is accessible to the public and which is private. Public data can be seen by visitors of the site and registered users. Private data can only be viewed by the administrator.

When trying to log in, you will see a link called 'I forgot my password'. Please click on it, and enter your mail address. You will receive an e-mail with a link to a page where you can set your new password.

If  you think you were interested in an article or summary, push the 'request for translation' button. If many of your colleagues do the same we will make sure we provide the proper translation of that item. Please be patient, as the request may not be answered immediately.

Use the like and dislike functions to evaluate the content of the website. Based on your feedback we will modify what we upload - and prioritise your preferences! If you like an item, please share with your friends on social networking sites! Let your friends know about the Hub and its resources.
