National Anti-Trafficking Coordinators and Rapporteurs from 42 countries across the Council and Europe and OSCE region, met on 22–23 October 2019, to discuss, among other things, the protection of child victims.

Valiant Richey, OSCE Special Representative and Coordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, said: ‘National Anti-Trafficking Coordinators and Rapporteurs play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of the national anti-trafficking responses, and this week we identified new opportunities for enhancing regional policies and practical actions to combat this scourge.’

On the first day of meetings, participants discussed ways to improve the protection of child victims of trafficking through needs-based assistance in the child’s best interests, and actions to decrease the demand that leads to human trafficking.
